But we are not a Catholic dating service for meeting single Catholics online and we are not like other services. Therefore, we are not for everyone.

Online Catholic dating has become not very different from other secular or Christian dating services. This is not a shopping experience in which you put a person in your shopping cart and check out. It is a process one makes a commitment to and it can take time. It fact, it must take God’s time. It is not important that single Catholics join any and all online Catholic dating services. It is important (and critical) to join the service right for you.

Are you committed to finding “the one”?
Our members join because they are ready to make the marriage commitment but have not found that right person yet. They do not want to waste time corresponding with those who are not sure about marriage or just want to chat. If you are thinking of joining AMS, it is important that you are at least open to having your friendship develop into a serious relationship. In other words, you must at least be open to meeting your future spouse.

Are you practicing your faith?
Our members are typically Catholics who love the Church and believe 100% of what the Church teaches. They are practicing their faith in their daily lives and seek to meet someone of the same conviction. We are not saying that these are “perfect” people or “saints”. They are sinners like we all are. But our members truly care about their journey toward Christ and a life in Him. They are seeking their help mate, who is one that cares strongly about getting to heaven. If you are thinking of joining AMS, it is important that you realize that you will see people who are very serious about their Catholic faith. If you are also a person like this, you will have great success on this service.

Are you able to marry in the Church?
Our members want to meet someone who is eligible for sacramental marriage and free to marry in the Church. Divorced persons with annulments are free to marry and make up much of our membership along with those never married or widowed. We do still get persons who join that are divorced and have annulments in process or don't have annulments in process. These person are not free to marry and, therefore, do not tend to have success on our service. But we reach out to them to help them if they do join, but we do not recommend joining if you are in this position. Our members are seeking to meet someone eligible for sacramental marriage in the Catholic Church. If you are thinking about joining AMS, it is important that you consider your single status and if you are eligible for sacramental marriage. Are you opposed to using contraception?
Our members are typically very committed to living the teachings of the Catholic Church and are not open to the use of contraception within marriage (and before marriage, which goes without saying). There are many Catholics today who do believe in the use of contraception in marriage to prevent conception, usually for wrong or selfish motives. Rarely, there are women with medical conditions that require a doctor-prescribed use of "The Pill" for health reasons, which is a medical concern. In these rare cases its use as medical treatment can be permissible for grave reasons if there is no alternative and providing the woman avoids marital relations during this time. But when it comes to the motive of use to prevent conception during marriage, the Church teaches it is never permitted. Though the Natural Family Planning (NFP) method of spacing conception is approved by the Church for grave reasons and only for a short time, NFP can also be used for the wrong reasons and motive.

Are you open to wherever that “right person” is?
Our members understand that they are part of a growing rare community; namely, single Catholics who love their Catholic faith, believe 100% in the teachings of the Church, do not believe in contraception, and have discerned a vocation to sacramental marriage. They also understand the reality of society today that people are busy and they scatter around the country via job moves, etc., that it makes it extremely hard to meet a like-minded single Catholic in their area. They have come to AMS because they understand that our forum brings these scattered committed single Catholics together in one place to come into contact with one another. They further acknowledge that to meet that one person God has in mind for them is going to require an open mind to meeting that person wherever that person may be. And the chances are good that this person is in another state (and who knows, maybe another country). We do have success stories of members from the same area, but if you read our success stories, you will find most are of people from different states. If you are thinking of joining AMS, you must be open to allowing God to bring you the person He has in mind for you from wherever this person may be and endure the heroic sacrifice that may be required to attain such a love for your life.

Our members believe that God can use anything He likes to bring two people together in love and marriage. And now, after our many years of existence bearing the fruit of many marriages, engagements, and relationships, it is clear that God is using Ave Maria Singles™ as an instrument of His will. If you are thinking of joining AMS, it is important that you join us with confidence, trust, and faith in God, who is the one calling you to be a part of our wonderful community. Just please make sure that you do everything you can to allow God to work for you on the site. Go into it with no set expectations. Simply allow yourself to be present and work to interact with members you believe you should communicate with.
